Saturday saw the snow stop and the first of the three Knutsford community groups #GbSpringClean litter tidy-ups around the open green spaces in the Town.
Friends of the Moor have been organising such events since their formation in 2005.
This year the Friends were joined by a group of young people calling themselves the “goalhangers,” interested in skateboarding and half a dozen other adult residents keen to clean up and catch up on the latest news following the Moor ideas survey last Summer.
Organiser and Chair of the Friends said “It was a great effort to cover the whole Moor, and we collected bags of rubbish, but to be honest it was a disappointing turnout on the numbers front.”
“I don’t think it was just down to the weather as it improved and we had a sunny hour – albeit cold at the end, but there were plenty of people around the Moor that afternoon.”
Debbie added “ I wonder if people think because we are a Green Flag award winning park that Cheshire East Council (should) do it all” “That couldn’t be further from the truth”
