FRIENDS of the Moor want to hear from users about their ideas to install a trim trail in Knutsford’s award-winning park.
The group are seeking the community’s views on their proposals to install a six-piece wooden trim trail on the Moor to provide publicly accessible outdoor exercise equipment. The idea has been discussed by the group since it was suggested in the 2017 ‘Moor Ideas’ survey.
The Friends are particularly looking to hear from potential users of the equipment to know:
- Would you use the suggested items?
- Are there other items that would be more/additionally useful?
- If we have to fund the items over a number of years, which would be highest priority?
- Would you prefer them grouped together as shown or spread out over a larger area and perhaps split between the Moor and the Barncroft?
The suggested items include a pair of sit-up benches, a horizontal ladder (monkey bars), chin up bars, push up bars, a traversing wall and a multi-purpose exercise bench. Click the above image to view the equipment in detail.
The group, which represents users of the Moor and Barncroft, will look to fund the items through grant funding.
The Friends have chosen a timber trim-trail to be in keeping with the natural character of the Moor rather than more intrusive steel equipment or gym equipment.
Friends Chairperson Adam Keppel-Green said “We know the Moor is a popular place for keeping fit and that there is nothing like this elsewhere in the town. We want to know that what we are suggesting is what people will use so I’d appreciate any feedback on our proposals.”
Adam added that he is hopeful that subject to funding the first pieces of equipment could be installed in 2021.
“I’m hopeful we’ll be able to get a grant to cover the full £16,000 we need to install this equipment in one go, but if not we’ll look to secure smaller grants and install pieces over a number of years”
